Meet the coaching and executive team of the Cubs Dance Team
Masha Pashchuck - Technical Training & Conditioning Coach
Masha has been dancing since the age of 4 and is trained in classical and contemporary ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, and modern. At the age of 15, Masha auditioned for and was accepted into the Performing and Visual Arts program at Central Memorial High School, where she was introduced to African, hip hop, blues, and many more new styles of dance.
Dancing has always been a passion for her, and in 2009, Masha joined the student teacher education program at Prestige Dance Academy. In 2012, Masha became a part of the Prestige faculty, and has been teaching there ever since. In the summer of 2015, Masha completed her first year of the ADAPT dance teacher training program and is now on her way to becoming a certified ADAPT dance teacher.
Masha is also in her 4th, and last year of the Education program at MRU, and she is excited to make memories in her last year of school.
Aside from dance, Masha enjoys spending time outdoors, learning new things, reading, and Netflix.
Maggie Bowles - President
This is Maggie's third year as the President of the Cubs and Co., and fourth year with the team. Maggie has seven years experience in jazz, lyrical, and cheer styles.
In the 2014/15 season Maggie took on an executive position with the team that included organization of team events and fundraisers, since then Maggie's position has grown to include sponsor development, event coordination, and social media coordinator. Maggie, along with her team, has committed to the growth and advancement of the Cubs and is excited to continue this development.
Throughout her dance career, Maggie has been involved in many social events that include performing at the 2012 Grey Cup.
Maggie has always been passionate about dance, her favourite styles are lyrical and cheer.
Her vision for the upcoming year is to create a strong technical group and continue to evolve the team into higher levels of dance. A long term goal for the team is to participate in a variety of competitions across Western Canada.
Maggie is in her fourth year of Criminal Justice at MRU and aspires to being involved in law after graduating. Outside of dance Maggie is an artist, enjoys two-stepping on the weekends, and is very bubbly and sociable.
Kaylee Shannon - Assistant Vice President
Kaylee has been dancing for 14 years in all varieties of dance . She has done the basics such as jazz ballet and hip hop as well as lyrical , musical theatre, contemporary, character , and tap . Kaylee has completed exams in ballet and jazz and won a studio award for most improved jazz dancer . Kaylee has participated in many competitions, dancing up to 6 days a week. Kaylee's favourite style of dance is jazz .
She says "I love expressing myself through dance and the feeling I get when I preform . I feel most confident when I’m dancing and it will always be a passion of mine." My favourite performance I’ve done is to the “hairspray “ soundtrack .
Kaylee is in her first year in bachelor of elementary education with a minor in indigenous studies.
This is Kaylee’s second year on the team and first year as Assistant Vice President. One of her many goals is to help the team grow and advance and help with the independent growth of her fellow dancers . Kaylee hopes to aid the team in attending more fun events and doing more for the community.
Outside of dance, Kaylee spends her time studying, with friends and is always laughing!
